It's sounds like you have a great love for our Father and His Son. I'm not questioning your sincerity and I'm glad to hear that you question everything that you are taught. I have never been a witness and wonder why you believe that the Watchtower has the truth. As a Christian I don't believe any church or organization has a monopoly on absolute truth. Jesus said that He is the Truth. Come to Him and you will have eternal life. My sense is that the Jesus of the Watchtower is very different from the Christian Jesus. Who do you believe Jesus to be? Is he your Mediator?

I hope you stick around. I'd be interested in knowing what you believe and why.

Name Things JWs Believe That Are Not Actually Biblically Provable

here's one example: being a congregation publisher.

nowhere in the bible does it say you should be a "publisher" and turn in your time if you preach.

they try to twist the scriptures by saying that numbers are constantly being recorded in the bible so then conforming to the rules of being a publisher is from the scriptures.. yeah, right..

Heaven: That the gates of heaven closed in 1935.

I believe that has changed and the gates are once again open. Maybe someone can verify that.

Minimus: other churches (including mine) do believe in a thousand year reign, but all will live on earth. (Associated Gospel, Pentecostal, Charles Stanley, David Jeremiah to name a few)

Some things JW's believe that are not actually Biblically provable:

That Jesus is Mediator only for the 144,000

That the 144,000 have heavenly hope vs Great Crowd with earthly hope

That Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, David have an earthly hope while the janitor down the street, because he is a JW and a feeling, will have a heavenly hope

They reject the divinity of Jesus despite the biblical evidence and yet accept that he is Michael with flimsy evidence of three scriptures.

That Jesus, Michael, is also Abaddon, the Destroyer and that the locusts are Jehovah's Witnesses.

Acts 9:11They had as king over them the angel of the Abyss, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in Greek, Apollyon. [a]

That the New Testament is written for and about Jehovah's Witnesses

That God has rejected the Jews and the Jehovah's Witnesses are now the Spiritual Israel.

That the JW's are the true witnesses of God, yet in the New Testament we are the witnesses of Christ.

Acts 1: 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

i'm a long time lurking of this site(2 years) and a first time poster.

to provide a little background of myself i was not raised as a witness but started studying when i was 19 and got baptized at age 21. a few months after i was baptized i left due to the constant worship of the faithful and discreet slave and the lack of emphasis on christ.

for reasons i'm not sure about yet i decided to attend the district convention last week.

Reniaa: This has to be your choice or you'll never be satisfied with it, I can only say for myself it was believing in Jehovah and his son Jesus and the depth of bible truths that made me go back to my faith. I was deeply unhappy with the Jesus worship offered by other Christian religions when Jesus never wanted it and he himself praised his father and his God utterly. I am glad you enjoyed the assembly.

So you believe that as Christians we don’t believe in Jehovah God and His Son Jesus? You don’t believe that as Christians we don’t do in depth study of Bible truths? You were unhappy with Jesus worship?

Your ignorance of Christians is appalling. As a Christian I can assure you that we do indeed believe in Yahweh God and His son Yeshua and do have in depth studies of Bible truths. We don’t go to church each Sunday, go to Bible Studies etc just to learn more deviant behaviour as some seem to think.

As for worshiping Jesus you are correct. Obeisance and worship is the same thing. This link will be of help to you.

My mom was a hardcore witness for 37 years. She believed that if the witnesses were wrong then God didn’t exist. She has been coming to church with me for the past year and a half and shows no signs of going back to the witnesses. She knows too much to go back. Yes she does miss some of the people but she will get to know other good people. She is gradually admitting to me what was wrong with the organization. She still defends it but I believe in time that will fade. She realized that it was not God that she put her faith in but the organization. She finds the worship a bit loud for her taste (she’s almost 80) but is starting to realize that it isn’t wrong to show emotion during worship and finds witness worship dry and unemotional.

She knows that it wasn’t me who got her out. It was the witnesses themselves. She saw the hypocrisy, self righteousness and a lack of concern for her. She left over emotional issues but she stays away because of doctrinal issues. Many of the people are very good moral people but they are deceived and I hope that one day they too will see the truth of the "truth".

Witnessing to a Witness

if i meet a witness on the street who doesnt know me i approach them with a list of each of the translaters of the new world translation and there lack of knowledge of greek and hebrew.

(i keep this list in my wallett) i then show the witness variouse scriptures that have been changed in their bible to support organisational doctrine.

i reafirm to them that the translating committe in their own bible claim to have translated from the orional greek and hebrew but had no knowledge of greek or hebrew.. i then leave my mobile number and ask them to phone me to prove what i have said is incorrect and then i would be happy to study the bible with them.

In response to your request, I give you the following facts: In Jehovah's Witnesses' Translation of the New Testament, where I am quoted in a footnote on John 1:1 (cf., D-M Gk. Gram. Pg. 148 (3)), I was writing on how the article "distinguishes the subject from the predicate in a copulative sentence," not on the significance of the absence of the article before THEOS. My closing statement in the paragraph was: "As it stands, the other persons of the Trinity may be implied in THEOS." My interpretation of John 1:1 in that same paragraph was "The Word was Deity," i.e., that Christ is of the same essence as the Father, of the same family. So I was quoted out of context. Is that honest scholarship?
